It's amazing: The Onion has always maintained itself on as simple a comedy principle as it gets: take a phrase you hear all the time in real life, like "this fucking piece of shit doesn't work right," and develop an entire fake news story around riffing on that one phrase, building it up to the level of farce. It would be pathetic if it wasn't so completely hysterical at least half the time.
